Our services - Simply scan yourself - Floor plan and living space calculation
Scan yourself and get the floorplan and living space calculation created
If you have an iPhone Pro or an iPad Pro, you can use our free app to create scans of properties for free. Just try it out for free!
You can find the app in the Apple App Store
Simply install the app and start scanning straight away. It's child's play, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind so that the scan can be evaluated later!
Aktuell befindet sich die App noch im Beta-Test, daher führt der Link zum Test-App-Store (Testflight von Apple).
It needs light
The scanning technology basically works without light, but the device's camera needs enough light to be able to establish a connection to the room. Daylight is best. We also recommend turning on the lights in all rooms and if there is not enough light available, we recommend using an LED construction spotlight with around 3000 lumens.
ATTENTION: Without sufficient light the scan may be aborted and must be started again.
We have had good experiences with the following device:
No hectic movements
The scan is assembled into a 3D image not only using the laser but also using the camera recordings.
Therefore, avoid hectic movements and turns. The app also cannot process movements over 180° from the head to the back.
ATTENTION: If you make hectic movements or move your head backwards, the scan may be interrupted and must be started again.
Only what you see is scanned
The basic rule is: Less is more, once scanned, it is scanned. If possible, avoid scanning areas multiple times.
However, this is not an X-ray scan! What you don't scan won't be visible afterwards. Pay particular attention to scanning protrusions such as fireplaces from all sides and also from the side of cupboards and, if possible, over the cupboard, as otherwise the shape on the scan will be different to what it actually is.
ATTENTION: Built-in cupboards and other special fittings are not always recognizable as such on the scan, please upload photos of these or describe the situation in the comments field when placing the order.
Edges of door and window frames
To create floor plans, it is necessary to be able to measure the edges of doors and window frames. This is not possible if the scan is covered by a curtain or drape, for example.
Try to pull the curtain to the middle of the window or tie it there or hang it in the tilted window; pull up blinds that hang over the edge of the window, if only to get enough daylight for the scan, so that the outer edges of the window or door are at least partially visible.
Scan from a distance.
We have had good experiences scanning from a distance of about 3 to 4 meters. Step back a little and scan a wide area.
Feel free to scan behind things that block your view, but pay attention to the lighting conditions and make sure you don't make any hectic movements or movements over 180° up or down.
If possible, scan in one go
It has proven useful to scan an apartment or a floor in one go. You can also scan a single-family house in one go, but if the scan stops at one point, you will have to repeat the scan.
Condominiums and single-family homes: Scan each level separately. But create a transition by scanning up or down the stairs and partially scanning the first room of the next or previous floor. Start from the outside at the entrance door. Make sure to name the scans (basement, ground floor, first floor, top floor, garage...) so that they can be assigned later.
Apartment building: Scan the entire stairwell and hallway by yourself and, during this scan, go out of the house and scan from the outside. Then scan each residential or commercial unit individually. Make sure to name the scans so that they can be assigned later (apartment number, floor, direction: apartment 1, ground floor left).
ATTENTION: When you go from one room to the next, first scan the floor of the door threshold so that the app can easily detect and map the transition between the rooms.
Less is more
You don't have to capture every single surface, not even the last one. Especially with ceilings or floors, it's not critical if parts aren't scanned.
ATTENTION: If you forget entire rooms or entire walls, it is of course not possible to create the documents or calculations.
